Luca loves to put his favorite toys in his new monkey backpack from Gugu (Xiao Jing) and go to kai’s house. Though usually about halfway there, he says, “Too big, Mama bao (carry).”

Tonight we were trying to figure out if Luca knew the difference between Chinese and English, and that two languages exist. So Mama asked him, “How do you say ‘big’ in Chinese?” After some encouragement, he correctly answered, “Da!”. An interview with Luca

and Appa and Anny, and O Mama and O Baba, and Cha-Cha and Ayi. He has been talking about everyone all day long (since 2:30 am!).

… and he is sending get well soon wishes to Yeye in Shenyang.

On Sunday Chacha helped us weed the driveway and clean up the back garden. Luca helped him water the flowers.

Luca had a great time on Angel Island with Chacha. We took the ferry over, hiked to the top of Mount Livermore, had a picnic, and then took the ferry home. Then we had a delicious Chinese meal, and Luca had worked up such an appetite that he ate four soup dumplings all by himself!
