Luca’s sign language

Today Luca invented a new sign to add to his self-invented signing repertoire. When he and Karen were looking out the window, Luca pointed to a small truck parked on our street. Karen told him that it was called a pick-up truck. So Luca bent over and put his fingers to the floor, as though he was picking something up. Now every time he sees a pick-up, he leans over to do the “pick-up.”

  1. How ckever you are, Luca! This reminds me of when Grampy and I were visiting you and you took the Chinese stools out of their box. We all asked if you could sit on a stool. And YOU put the stool on your big white chair in the livingroom. You were making the stool sit doen! I think that is clever too. It also shows how funny language really is sometimes!–What sign are you going to make when you learn about back-hoes? love from your Granny
